Sadness
Sadness and worry are part of the humancondition. Life is a series of moments. At the two extremes are joyful moments that make our hearts sing with gladness and dark moments that plunge us into sadness and worry. In between is real life; the highs, the lows, the mundane and boring, the sweetness, and light. It is in these times that the believer must try to establish a connection to Allah.?
The symptoms of depression vary from person to person.
People find it hard to concentrate, they can feel irritated, and feel like they have no energy and generally just feel "down".
This does not only affect the individual but also those dear to him. What can be done to overcome these hardships?
In these difficult times Sabr (patience) and Shukr (gratitude) increase peace and serenity.
Ameen

Ramadhan
Ramadan 2015 DAY 20 – Tue 07/Jul
Lailatul Qadri – The Night of Power
AlhamdulilLah! we have been blessed yet again to witness the last 10 days which includes the Night of Power.
This one night surpasses the value of 30,000 nights (or 83 years). The most authentic account of the occurrence of the Night indicates that it can occur on any one of the last ten, odd numbered nights of Ramadan, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29. In fact, TODAY marks the 21st; Lailatul Qadri may well be TONIGHT InshaAllah!
In anticipation, I encourage all of us to do 5 things, which we put as a mnemonic for quick remembrance, QURAN:
Q uran recitation
U nlimited optional prayers
R emembrance of Allah through Zikr
A sk for forgiveness
N ot forgetting your Duas
1. Quran must be read abundantly as it was revealed in this month
2. Unlimited Optional prayers - The Prophet (pbh)said: “Whoever draws near to Allah during it (Ramadan) with a single optional prayer, it is like performing an obligatory act in other times. And whoever performs an obligatory act during it, it is like performing 70 obligatory acts in other times.”
3. Remembrance of Allah through Zikr. Let’s keep chanting some of the easiest and the most powerful words of praise and glorification throughout. Some of these are:
- SubhanalLah
- AlhamdulilLah
- Allahu Akbar
- La Hawla, wala Quwwata illa BilLah
- Laa Ilaha Illal Lah
- SubhanalLahi wa Bihamdihi, SubhanalLahil Azeem.
4. Ask for forgiveness - Aisha (Ra) said: “I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He said: "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu'annee" [Meaning: ‘O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.]'
5. Not forgetting Dua – In Sura 2:186, Allah (SWT) says “When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every supplicant when they call on me.”
The position of Dua is so high to Allah (SWT) that the Prophet (pbh) said: ‘Nothing is more honourable to Allah, the Most High, than Dua’ [SahihAl-Jami]
On this Day, I ask Allah (SWT) to forgive our sins, those of our families, friends and ALL muslims! Ameen!
Please share with your loved ones when you find it useful.
